A 45-year-old on trial for the murder of 58-year-old Ioannis Polykarpou pleaded not guilty on Tuesday while appearing before Paphos criminal court.
Polycarpou was fatally injured in a traffic accident back in January. He was driving his moped on the Tombs of the Kings road in Paphos, in which the 45-year-old appears to have deliberately driven into him, dragging him 70m along the road in the process before fleeing the scene.
The 58-year-old was taken by ambulance to Paphos hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect appeared before the court on Tuesday, pleading not guilty to the main charge of premeditated murder. He also faces charges of possession of burglary tools, an offensive weapon and cannabis, while admitting to the use of cannabis.
The court ordered that he remain in custody until the trial resumes on July 10.
