Police on Sunday took into custody two people on charges of conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, possession of a knife, assault with actual bodily harm, threats and malicious damage.

According to Paphos police spokesman and CID chief Michalis Nicolaou, on May 13, at 11pm, two men, aged 20 and 21, both from Paphos, reported that while driving on Democracy Avenue shortly before 10pm a driver overtook them, and pulled up beside their vehicle recklessly, stopping next to them at traffic lights and abusing them verbally.

The two then carried on towards Geroskipou where they were approached by  another car, which together with the initial aggressor, forced their vehicle to a halt.

The driver of the second vehicle was the 26-year-old brother of the aggressor, accompanied by passengers.

The group then allegedly assaulted and kicked the victims and, after threatening further violence, left the scene.

The two complainants were transferred to Paphos general hospital, where, according to the doctor on duty, the 20-year-old was given first aid and discharged, while the 21-year-old was admitted for further treatment as he had suffered a serious blow to the eye.

Arrest warrants were issued against the two primary suspects, aged 24 and 26, who were wanted. Police located them at 12:40 in the afternoon on Sunday and they are being held for questioning.
