Teen arrested trying to collect package with drugs in Limassol

A 19-year-old was arrested, after he was discovered trying to collect a package from the post office that contained cannabis, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, after a check carried out on Tuesday, by an official of the customs department, on a package that arrived, from abroad, at a post office in Cyprus, suspicions were raised that it contained drugs.

The drug squad, Ykan, was informed about this and after it was established that the postal package contained a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 60 grams, as well as two hand-made cigarettes containing cannabis, with a total weight of approximately 6 grams, a controlled delivery was made.

The 19-year-old arrived to collect the package at around 11am on Wednesday in Limassol, where he was arrested by police at the scene.

Police are investigating the situation.
