Preparations are underway in Paphos on Thursday for the four-day Kataklysmos festivities.

The traditional annual celebration of the Flood will take place from Friday, June 2 through June 5, in the Kato Paphos castle square and port.

The festival kicks off on Friday at 7pm with an artistic programme featuring traditional dances by the Giolou folklore society and Greek island dances by the Sacred Gardens dance group of Geroskipou.

On Saturday, Cypriot traditional dancers from the Konia and Pontian dancers from the Romiosyni dance group will take the stage.

On Sunday at 9pm, there will be a concert by Elli Kokkinou and the music group Kings in the square, opened by Greek dances presented by the Ktima folklore club.

The festival draws to a close on Monday, starting with a 5pm sea show in the port, organised jointly by the Paphos nautical club and the municipality.

The events continue at 8pm with more traditional dances by folklore groups To Kastro and Aphrodite, and culminate in a big concert by the Nikolas Mavresis music group with songs by Michalis Leventis and Frederiki Tobazou.
