A 21-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured on Thursday in a traffic accident in Paphos.

According to police, the accident happened at around 9pm on Democracy Avenue when, under circumstances being investigated, the 21-year-old collided with a car driven by an 18-year-old woman with a 46-year-old passenger.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Paphos general hospital, where he was found to have suffered a fractured skull, femur and arm. He underwent surgery and doctors said his condition is very serious.

The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital and was kept for monitoring.

Examinations carried out at the scene established that the motorcycle did not have registration plates and it is being investigated whether the 21-year-old was wearing a helmet.

Further investigation determined that the 21-year-old does not hold a driver’s licence for the specific category of the motorcycle he was riding, he was not covered by a safety certificate, and the motorcycle was declared immobilised.
