Woman dies in traffic accident on Troodos road

A 70-year-old woman was pulled out of her car dead on Friday, after crashing into a rock formation on the Karvounas-Kakopetria road, police said.

According to police, Eleni Karyda from Peristerona was driving on the road at around 1:30pm, when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the mountainside. From the crash her vehicle flipped over, where police and firefighters arrived to free her.

At the scene, firefighters from the Evrychou station pulled her out of the vehicle.

She was then taken to Nicosia General, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
