Traffic inspection campaign yields over 100 violations in 24 hours

Over 100 traffic violations were recorded in Limassol during a 24-hour inspection campaign, police said on Friday, as 39 vehicles were impounded for further examination.

A total of 39 motor vehicles – 26 cars and 13 motorcycles – were impounded, police said following checks by the police motorcycle unit.

According to authorities, during these checks one person was arrested after attacking a police officer.

Meanwhile police also found 37 drivers operating their motor vehicle without a licence or insurance, another five people driving without a valid MOT certificate, and twelve people driving vehicles that had been registered as stationary.

Another four motorists and two cyclists were also fined for not wearing a helmet, while two drivers were charged for driving under the influence of drugs.

Police also fined people for another 24 various traffic violations.

According to authorities, 39 of the vehicles checked were impounded for further examination.
