Limassol jewellery store robbery

File photo
Jewellery worth around €100,000 was stolen from a jewellery store in Limassol during the early hours of Thursday, police said.

According to head of Limassol CID, Ioannis Soteriades, two burglars managed to break into the store, located on the coastal road Limassol Avenue at around 2.50am, using various tools.

Soteriades said despite setting off the store’s alarm system, the two burglars were able to ransack the store before fleeing when officers arrived on the scene.

In their haste, the burglars left the tools they used for the break-in which will be sent for forensic testing, Soteriades added.

CCTV footage from the store showed that the two men had their faces covered during the robbery.

Limassol CID is investigating the case.
