Temperatures due to return to normal levels by Thursday

After last week’s hailstorms, which destroyed crops in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, a mini heat wave has descended on the island, but temperatures are expected to return to normal levels by Thursday, the met service said.

On Tuesday temperatures were expected to reach 38C inland, 33C on the south and east coasts and 30C in the western and northern coastal areas.

Wednesday is expected to be slightly cooler, as temperatures are expected to reach 35C inland, 31C on southern and eastern coastal areas, 28C in the western and northern coasts and 25C in mountainous regions.

By Thursday, temperatures are anticipated to return to normal seasonal levels, at around 30C inland, while rain and isolated storms are expected on Friday both inland and in mountainous areas.

Temperatures are expected to mark a further slight increase from Saturday.
