The spice of life…is fun

By Maria Gregoriou

We all enjoy a bit of clowning about, a bit of a juggling act and a bit of a charity festival. Because, let’s face it, variety is the spice of life and when the spice makes you sing along, dance or laugh it is really the best you can get.

This weekend, get ready to have that good kind of spice rain down on you.

Let’s start with the clowning about. The Russian Circus is coming to the Municipal Garden Theatre in Limassol for the weekend.

From 7.30pm until 9.30pm on both days you can enjoy a spectacle of impressive and original stunts, some acrobatics that will take your breath away, jugglers who will have you gazing wide-eyed at their magical patterns, clowns who will be up to what clowns do best – making us laugh – and cyclists performing some incredible tricks on their bikes.

Tickets are available at MyRadio Art and online at

Now on to the Daxifest charity festival, which will be held on Saturday at the Ethnikos Achnas Football Stadium in Famagusta.

The festival, which is in aid of the Paralimni-based charity KEPA and the SBA Police Food Project ‘Feeding local families this winter’, will include a huge festival stage with over 25 acts performing from 11am until 1am.

For your musical pleasure the festival includes live singers, dance groups, bands, musicians and DJs. The artists include the Cypriot rock band The Cashiers, English Cypriot rock and blues band Echo, Chris Andre – an Australian Cypriot musician and brother to (yes you guessed it) music celebrity Peter Andre – three-piece Cypriot band Between Loops, plus over 20 additional performances including soul, blues, pop, reggae, funk, jazz, traditional Cypriot music and dancing and several DJs playing a variety of dance music.

There will be a large variety of stalls including food, drink, crafts and fun experiences as well as a bouncy castle, face painting, and children’s activities.

So you see, no matter what you choose to do (or why not do both?) this weekend, the spice will be all good with you.
