Pair arrested for indecent assault (Updated)

Two men were remanded for seven days on Friday in connection with indecent assault, robbery, and abduction of a 29-year-old French tourist in Paphos.

Paphos district court issued the order to help police interrogations.

The 29-year-old woman reported to police that while she was waiting at a bus stop on the way to her hotel in Kato Paphos at around 1.20 pm, a van stopped and two men offered to take her.

Instead, they drove to a deserted location where the woman said she was indecently assaulted. The two suspects took her phone and fled the scene, police said.

The tourist took down the vehicle’s registration and gave it to police who arrested the pair later on Thursday.

The two, both 39 from Nicosia, deny any involvement in the case.
