A 32-year-old man allegedly kidnapped his niece and her friend, both aged 13, in Polis, Paphos on Sunday but later on released them.

The man is reported to have abducted the two girls at 3.30pm in order to extort money from the mother of one of the girls, the kidnapper’s sister.

An hour after snatching them he dropped off the girls at his sister’s house and disappeared.

According to the man’s sister who reported the incident to police he has psychological problems.

Police issued an arrest warrant for the alleged kidnapper and are looking for him.
