A primary school in Limassol and a special school on Paphos will remain closed for a few days after coronavirus cases have been detected among staff and pupils, the education ministry said on Sunday.
According to the ministry, a number of cases has been detected among teaching and other staff but also pupils at the 25th Limassol primary school. Some of the cases were detected on Saturday and others in previous days.
Though the school grounds have been disinfected and contact tracing is proceeding in a way that allows the reopening of the school on Monday, the ministry said, “it is preferable to suspend attendance until the cleaning staff and pupil escorts who will need to be absent, are replaced and the process of testing of pupils and teachers is completed.”
The density of positive cases also at the Theoskepasti special school in Paphos but also the need to carry out more tests has prompted the ministry to decide to interrupt this school’s programme as well for a few days.
The schools will notify parents about when the classes will resume.
