Coronavirus: Applications for artists’ grants now open

Applications for a €1500 one-off grant to support people working in the arts affected by the pandemic can be submitted online from today, through to 2.00 pm on February 18 the cultural services of the education ministry said on Monday.

The scheme is open to those who fall into one of the professional categories given by the ministry, have suspended their work under measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus or have suffered a significant drop in their income in the past three months.

Public sector employees, those who have received a labour ministry grant under its schemes to support employment and those who receive a pension or the minimum guaranteed income are not eligible.

Applicants must be Cypriots or other European citizens and live permanently in the government-controlled areas.

The categories covered are literature, visual arts, applied arts, theatre, cinema and TV, music, dance, traditional culture (such as karakiozi puppeteers) and other. (For full list see here )

Applications can be submitted online on the platform https://eservices.moec.gov.cy/Politistikes/Chorigia-Technes-Politismos available on the website of the education ministry.

Applicants who received a grant in 2020 are automatically entitled to the 2021 grant provided they apply through the portal.  Those who applied in 2020 and did not receive the grant must apply again, while those applying for the first time must also do so through the portal.
