Cypriots still warming up to online shopping

Cyprus recorded amongst the lowest rates for internet shopping across Europe with just 52 per cent of internet users having done so during 2020.

According to the data collected by Eurostat, the UK topped the charts with 92 per cent while Montenegro came in decidedly last place with just 29 per cent.

As for EU members, Netherlands was first with 91% and Cyprus placed third from last – just ahead of Bulgaria (42%) and Romania (45%).

Despite the surge of online food apps, Cyprus ranks just ahead of Serbia’s 48 per cent and well below the EU average of 72 per cent.

But Cyprus did record a noticeable jump in online shopping compared to 2019 with an increase of seven per cent. In just two years online shopping has increased 14 per cent on the island.
