Strategies for spine decompression: neck, mid and lower back

This video is meant to expand your general knowledge about living a healthy life and is NOT a substitute for seeking medical advice. Please consult with your doctor before making changes in your health practices, diet and self-care.

In this video, physical therapists Bob Schrupp and Brad Heineck demonstrate seven ways to achieve spinal decompression, to provide relief for disc-related pain in the neck, mid and lower back.

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine, taking pressure off the spinal disks, which are gel-like cushions between the bones of the spine. As a result, bulging or herniated disks may retract, taking pressure off nerves and other spinal structures. This in turn, helps promote movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal.
