Osteoporosis signs to look out for, to prompt bone care

This video is meant to expand your general knowledge about living a healthy life and is NOT a substitute for seeking medical advice. Please consult with your doctor before making changes in your health practices, diet and self-care.

In this video, physical therapists Bob Schrupp and Brad Heineck go over the signs that may indicate a screening for osteoporosis is appropriate.

Osteoporosis occurs when the body loses too much bone density, makes too little bone tissue, or both, from a lack of sufficient calcium.

As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall – which is why it is important to have the condition diagnosed early, in order to begin strengthening and preserving bone tissue.

Osteopenia is when your bones are weaker than normal, but not so far gone that they break easily.
