Tips for leaving a puppy home alone safely

Every pet deserves a loving and respectful home: please only consider acquiring a pet if you will be able to take care of its long-term needs. Also, consider choosing your animal companion from a shelter, where there are so many wonderful furry friends who need a forever home.

We need to make many considerations when we adopt a puppy into our home, and one of the most important is whether we can spend enough time with them. When we leave for work or any other reason, our puppy can become anxious and stressed if left by themselves.

This video offers suggestions on how to gradually get your pup ready for times when taking them with you in out-of-home trips is not an option, and to help them feel secure when left by themselves for short interludes.

Remember, a dog or any other pet is a member of your family. Treat them with the same care and compassion and responsibility that you practise with your human loved ones.
