Coronavirus: 10 businesses fined for breaking protocol in last 48 hours

In the 48 hours until 6am on Sunday morning police charged 325 people and 10 businesses for breaking coronavirus protocols, from a total of 20,034 checks.

In Limassol seven businesses were charged, of which four were serving customers inside, while the other three – a bar, a café and a minimarket – were charged for other offences.

In Paphos a further three businesses were charged, two restaurants and one coffeeshop, for serving customers inside and other breaches of the protocols.

As for individuals, 4,078 checks were carried out in Nicosia with 46 charges, 5,150 in Limassol with 128 charges, 3,251 in Larnaca with 44 charges, 2,408 in Paphos with 40 charges, 2,478 in Famagusta with 34 charges and 1,655 in Morphou with six charges.

The traffic police carried out 914 checks and charged 27 people.

The majority of charges against individuals were for not sending an SMS (176), while people were also charged for not wearing a mask (77), being out after curfew (42) and having too many passengers in the car (18).
