Coronavirus: One death, 58 new cases (Updated)

One death from coronavirus and 58 new cases from 39,568 PCR and rapid tests were announced on Wednesday. The positivity rate is 0.15.

The death was a woman, aged 64.

There are 57 people in hospital with the virus, 22 of whom are in serious condition. Fourteen patients are intubated.

Seventeen of the new cases were detected through contact tracing, and 15 are people who got PCR tests in private labs. Another case was detected among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

Three cases concern passengers who arrived at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Two cases were people who got rapid tests in private labs.

Another 20 cases were detected among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Of these one was found during tests in secondary education. Eight positive cases were detected in the Nicosia district (0.08 per cent), eight in Limassol (0.11 per cent), one in Larnaca (0.02 per cent), one in Paphos (0.03 per cent) and one in the Famagusta district (0.04 per cent).

So far 72,573 cases have been recorded.

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 is now 361: 240 men and 121 women with average age 77.5 years.
