Coronavirus: 832 new cases, no deaths (Updated)

The health ministry announced 832 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday out of 59,764 PCR and rapid tests, an overall positivity rate of 1.39 per cent.

No deaths were reported, but 153 are in hospital with the virus, 40 of them in serious condition and 16 are intubated.

Twelve of the new cases are passengers who arrived from abroad at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

The new cases also concern seven detected during contact tracing, 92 people who got PCR tests privately and 25 who got rapid tests also in private labs or pharmacies, 21 samples processed in state hospital’ labs and one person who was referred for testing by their physician.

The rest, 674 cases, were people found positive during the rapid testing carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Of these, seven cases were detected during tests in the National Guard, one in special schools, and three cases, one each, in nursing homes in Nicosia, Limassol and Famagusta. In addition, 192 cases were detected in Nicosia (0.98 per cent), 240 in Limassol (1.96 per cent), 108 in Larnaca (1.25 per cent), 65 in Paphos (1.07 per cent), and 58 in the Famagusta district (1.47 per cent).

So far 85,104 cases have been recorded and 380 deaths.
