A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of trying to strangle his former girlfriend at her apartment in Nicosia on Friday.
Police had launched a search for the man after the 23-year-old woman filed a complaint that the suspect allegedly tried to her strangle her at her home where he had gone in order to talk. There was a row, and he then allegedly tried to strangle her.
He is expected to appear in court to be remanded in custody later today.
