Coronavirus: 386 new cases recorded on Tuesday (updated)

The health ministry on Tuesday announced 386 new Covid-19 cases were recorded.

No deaths were announced.

The new cases were among 59,730 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.65 per cent.

There are 88 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals, 38 of whom are in serious condition. In total 62.5 per cent of hospitalised patients are not vaccinated.

Most cases, 144, concern people who got rapid tests in private labs and pharmacies, while another 80 concern those who got tested on private initiative.

Ten cases were among samples collected by the public hospitals’ state labs and 44 concern contact tracing.

The remaining 108 cases were detected during the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Among those is one case detected during tests in primary schools in Paphos, while 23 were recorded in high schools: 10 in Nicosia, seven in Limassol, four in Paphos and two in Larnaca. Another case was detected in closed structures.

Among the tests at health ministry testing sites 45 cases were detected in the Nicosia district out of 2,718 tests, 10 in Limassol (963), nine in Larnaca (619), 17 in Paphos (503), and two in Famagusta.

The total number of cases recorded so far is 128,424.

So far 588 deaths from Covid-19 were recorded: 376 men and 212 women with average age of 76 years.

In the north, 220 cases were announced on Tuesday out of 27,376 tests.
