circular

Cabinet on Wednesday approved a €1.4m subsidy scheme to promote a circular economy in the hotel sector as part of efforts to enhance sustainable, high value tourism sector, deputy government spokeswoman Niovi Parisinou said.

Funded by the recovery and resilience mechanism, it covers the provision of consultancy services to participating hotels through training programmes to adopt cyclical methods in their operation, and for the services and products they offer.

The first cycle will see the participation of at least 50 hotel facilities, with another 18 expected to join the second.

On completion, by May 2026, they will be certified as cyclical as part of a special certification scheme that will be developed as part of the programme.
