A 34-year-old  man has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling €211,000 from his work, Limassol police said on Monday.

His boss, the 54-year-old owner of a company selling electrical goods, made a complaint to police after seeing some suspicious activity on the company bank account.

The man found that between December 7 2021 and June 5 2022, 18 money transfers were made to the suspect’s personal account without any authorisation.

The employee was arrested after a court warrant was issued against him, and is expected to face the Limassol district court on Tuesday.

When questioned, the suspect made some allegations which are being investigated, police said.
