Police catch man breaking into car

Limassol police on Friday said they arrested a 50-year-old man who was allegedly caught breaking into a car and carrying a knife.

The suspect was seen by officers on patrol in a specific area in Limassol around 8.15pm on Thursday, breaking the left side window of a car, then opening the door and trying to grab something from the car.

The officers carried out a body search on the suspect, during which they found a knife.

A jacket and a mobile phone were also found in his possession, which were later identified by the owner of the vehicle as his property.

Also on Thursday evening a 31-year-old was detained for driving at 115kph on a 65kph road, in Strovolos. The man was released and is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today.
