Teen remanded for string of Limassol car thefts (updated)

Two people were remanded for eight days by Limassol district court on Tuesday after they were stopped by police at dawn in a car that had been reported as stolen a few hours earlier.

The car had been reported stolen to Limassol CID. Upon investigation, police established the driver of the vehicle was 19 years old, and was accompanied by a 32-year-old passenger.

The teen was arrested for theft, while in a subsequent search various burglary tools were found in the possession of the 32-year-old, as a result of which he was arrested for the crime of possession of burglary tools.

The 19-year-old revealed to the police two locations in Limassol where two vehicles were parked which had been reported stolen on August 21 and 22, while he admitted to the theft of another vehicle for which a report had been filed on August 16.

They were both taken to Limassol district court later on Tuesday, while the case is under ongoing investigation.
