Feeling festive with live music at Vinylio

The official countdown to Christmas has begun, with only a few days left until the big day, rapidly followed of course by the New Year arrives. To keep spirits high and add to the season’s cheery mood, Vinylio Wine Etc is adding to Limassol’s live music scene by welcoming local musicians to its intimate old town venue.

Numerous live music nights are taking place at the bar until the end of the year. On Friday a cabaret jazz night will burst at Vinylio with a Christmas twist. The Pin-Retro duo returns to the bar for one more evening of fresh tunes and vintage burlesque melodies. Jazz, soul and show tunes will fill the bar as the local duo present a festive show.

For the night of December 24, Vinylio Wine Etc welcomes back another duo – Elena Solea and Antonis Polikarpou. Performing Greek covers, festive songs and other beloved music, Elena and Antonis will fill the bar with music while Vinylio serves a special holiday platter with cheese, warm pumpkin soup and honey-glazed gammon.

On Christmas Day, Antigone Kyriakidou will perform a glittery, festive show with her accordion, accompanied by Elena Solea on vocals and guitar. The same show will be repeated on January 1 to welcome the New Year.

Continuing the month’s live music is another evening of jazz titled Baby It’s Cold Outside. For a Boxing Day performance, the Kate and Alexis duo have prepared a night of jazz hits and Christmas favourites. Their 9pm show will include up-tempo swing numbers and dreamy landscapes with influences from Chet Baker, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.

Lastly, the final music performance of the year at Vinylio Wine Etc will be dedicated to soundtracks from old films and musicals. On December 29, the Katherine Petrou Duo will perform a carefully selected list of well-known soundtracks from old movies and musicals such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Wizard of Oz and more. The duo aims to revisit that vintage repertoire and bring it back to life, one last time before 2022 wraps up.
