184 traffic violations in 24 hours reported in Limassol

A total of 184 fines were issued for various traffic offenses during traffic controls in the city and district of Limassol, carried out from 5 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon on Tuesday by Limassol police.

According to the police, the traffic controls were carried out to prevent traffic collisions but also to target driving without a license or vehicle registration.

Specifically, 48 persons were reported for driving without insurance, while another 46 were found to be driving without a driver’s license.

In addition, 25 people were caught driving vehicles that had been declared out of commission, eight drivers were reported for violating the speed limit and another 19 for not renewing their vehicle’s license.

In addition, three users of a personal mobility device were reported for using their vehicle in an unauthorised area, while two others were reported for not wearing a protective helmet and visibility aids.

There were also 33 other complaints for various traffic violations.

The police report said that during the traffic checks, officers detained 45 cars and four motorcycles whose drivers did not hold a driver’s license or insurance certificate.

The announcement notes that targeted traffic controls continue twenty-four hours a day, throughout the road network islandwide.

“The sole objective is to reinforce good road awareness by all road users and prevent fatal and serious traffic collisions,” it added.
