Goal set to increase tourism by up to ten per cent

The goal is to increase tourism flow to the island by five to 10 percent compared to 2022, Deputy Minister for Tourism Costas Koumis said on Tuesday.

Speaking on CyBC’s morning programme, Koumis said that continuing to promote an extended tourist season throughout October and November is also part of strategic planning.

In addition to the UK and European market, the state is exploring other potential markets, one of which is Saudi Arabia.

“This is a big new market with a particular tourist profile and requirements,” Koumis said, adding that both sun-and-sea as well as mountain getaways were being actively promoted to this market.

The director said results of these focused strategies are expected soon.
