The Ayia Napa municipality announced on Thursday that there will be an increased police presence throughout the summer in the town.

According to the municipality, the move to increase police numbers has been undertaken to combat potential issues such as noise pollution, traffic issues, and any other criminal activity which could occur during the summer period.

Ayia Napa mayor Christos Zanettou thanked the police for their cooperation and commended their interest in “better policing the area to immediately deal with the various problems which could happen due to the increased flows of tourists”.

Police chief Stelios Papatheodorou said the police will “always stand on the side of the Ayia Napa municipality”.
