The final count of people who were detected on three boats off Cape Greco on Tuesday was 170, police said on Wednesday morning.

An initial count on Tuesday had suggested a total of 102 people had been detected off the coast of Cape Greco, while one of the three boats was still at sea.

A total of 76 people were aboard the first boat, which was spotted at around 2:15pm, and 19 people were aboard the second, which was spotted at around 4:20pm.

The third boat was spotted at 5:30pm and brought ashore later in the evening, with police eventually announcing that a total of 75 people were on board, adding up to a total of 170 across the three boats.

Of the 170, 106 are men, 18 are women, and 46 are children, 27 of whom are unaccompanied.

Their details were recorded at the Ayia Napa marina once they were brought ashore, and all 170 were transferred to the Pournara reception centre.
