Events for all at CVAR

cvar 2

This month has it all: markets, concerts, ballets, plays, parties, workshops. There is something to be enjoyed, something to watch or participate in all around the island. Nicosia is bursting with events and in the heart of the old town, one cultural institution is holding events that everyone can enjoy.

CVAR Severis Foundation has games and workshops coming up this Christmas period as well as an ongoing exhibition. A festive art scavenger hunt is on this Saturday morning where children are invited to explore the museum’s grounds and learn about Cypriot culture through a fun and festive art quest. The event will run from 11am to 12.30pm for children aged seven to 12 where they will help Santa Claus reach Cyprus, taking inspiration from CVAR’s art collection.

On Saturday, December 30, another fun morning is planned for young visitors. This time, children will have to find the tin soldiers hidden around the museum, answer riddles about the museum’s art and return the soldiers to their place. Guided by museum educators, the children will learn about the cultural and social life of Cyprus through a fun Christmas game.

Meanwhile, the exhibition Croatian Intangible Cultural Heritage on UNESCO Lists is on its final week, sharing living traditions, skills and creativity. Since the beginning of December, the exhibition has been running at CVAR, sharing insights into tangible and intangible Croatian culture. Before it concludes on Wednesday, its doors remain open to showcase the life, identity and cultural heritage of Croatia.

The travelling exhibition was created by the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb in 2011 following an initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Croatia. Since then it has been touring the world, visiting a total of 46 locations in 15 countries on four continents. Austria, Montenegro, France, Australia, China and Canada have been among the countries to host the exhibition and its last stop for 2023 is the capital of Cyprus.
