Music nights in Paphos

A new series of live music performances begin as January’s events’ agenda comes to life. In Paphos, the cultural centre Technopolis 20 will host events for music lovers to look forward to.

The events begin on Wednesday when the Charlotte Storer trio will take over Technopolis 20’s cosy setting to bring classic jazz ballads and more. With Charlotte Storer on vocals, Demetris Miaris on piano and Costas Challoumas on double bass, the repertoire will honour jazz tradition with ballads, earthy swing and mellow blues.

Then, on January 17, local musician Nama Dama will return to Technopolis 20 for a solo performance. The Nicosia-based artist was nominated for two awards in 2023, Female Musician of the Year (Madame Figaro) and Young Artist of the Year (THOC), and has performed extensively around the island. Growing up in Cyprus, she developed an interest in folk music and storytelling, elements that now feature in her work. Her music is a combination of folk and electronic, accompanied by both atmospheric and intense vocals. Using live looping as her compass, she turns her one-woman act into a unique colourful ritual.

On February 4, Technopolis 20 organises the Sparks of Music concert at Markideio Theatre featuring the Piano Quartet while on February 16, singer Alice Ayvazian, pianist Dimitris Miaris and double bassist Costas Challoumas will return to Technopolis 20 with a special tribute to some of the iconic jazz singers of the 20th century.
