Man who escaped police custody re-arrested (updated)

Paphos district court

A 23-year-old Syrian man who escaped from police custody on Thursday was located and arrested in Limassol, police said on Saturday.

The man had been taken to Paphos district court in connection with burglary and theft charges, from where he managed to escape.

Police said he was spotted in Limassol in a car in Yermasoyia, which was intercepted. Officers arrested the fugitive and the female driver of the car.

The pair were late transferred to Paphos and remanded for two days on Saturday by the Paphos District Court.
