Electricity prices set to drop in 2021

Energy prices are set to decrease by 3.2 per cent in 2021, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) announced on Friday.

The EAC’s assessment of the price per kilowatt (kW) was approved and as such the price per unit is set to decrease by 0.45 cents.

EAC spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou told the Cyprus Mail that a household consuming 800kW in January 2021 would be estimated to pay €152, compared with €180 for the same usage 12 months ago – a decrease of 16.7 per cent.

Papadopoulou said prices will be further adjusted each month, and as such, if international prices are reduced then costs will be reflected locally.

Further information is available at  www.eac.com.cy or at one of the customer service centres.
