Frederick University signs diversity charter 

Frederick University has recently signed the diversity charter Cyprus (DCC) with which it declares its commitment to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. For this purpose, the university signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), the EU official representative of the European platform of diversity charters in Cyprus. The memorandum was signed by Natassa Frederickou, president of the Frederick University council, and Demetris Hadjisofokli, director of CSI.

Diversity, within the framework of DCC, is perceived as the principle that allows people to fulfil their potential, regardless of their personal differences. Conscious application of the principles of the DCC generates acceptance, support and further development of the employees’ talents and capabilities.

By signing the diversity charter, Frederick University is committed to reinforcing its diverse and inclusive internal policies to ensure equal opportunities for all employees in the workplace. It is also committed to enhancing its long-term efforts to maintain a workplace that is open to everyone, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion and any other characteristics.

In collaboration with the Centre for Social Innovation, Frederick University is committed to following the practical guide of DCC and the accompanied online training, in collaboration with both the national and European platform of diversity charters.

“Our efforts to combat discrimination and promote equality at work are ongoing and by signing the Diversity Charter Cyprus we take a step towards this goal” said Natassa Frederickou.

“We have recently engaged with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) project; reducing inequalities, ensuring decent work for all and promoting inclusive societies are among the 17 SDGs to transform our world. We are working towards this end by managing our human resources based on each person’s talents, knowledge, skills and competencies.”
