Dangerous cable extension on market

The department of electromechanical services on Tuesday warned the public it had identified a dangerous cable extension set in the market.

According to the announcement, the WePLUG Model 66002, made in China, “does not comply with the basic safety requirements of the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (LVD) Directive, since it poses substantial safety risks for the user. In addition, it is not accompanied by the required EU declaration of conformity and the required technical documentation,” the department said.

As a result, the importer has voluntarily withdrawn the product from the market.

Anyone who knows where the set is being sold or needs additional information or clarifications is requested to contact the electromechanical services department at 22-800514 or 22-800522, e-mail [email protected] or fax 22-348202.

Consumers in possession of the product are urged not to use it and to return it immediately to the shop from which they have purchased it.
