Coronavirus: no deaths, 364 new cases announced on Friday (Updated)

The health ministry announced no deaths and 364 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday.

As there were no deaths, the total number remains 241, of whom 160 were men and 81 women, with an average age of 79.

There are 204 people in hospitals, 45 of whom are in serious condition. Of the 45 patients who are critical, 15 are intubated, six are in ICU and 24 in the High Dependency Unit.

A total of 57,791 tests were carried out by means of PCR and rapid tests with 364 new cases, and a positivity rate of 0.63 per cent.

The total number of positives to date is 41,475.

Of the 57,791 tests, 3,002 were PCR and 54,789 rapid tests. The majority, 211 of the 364 positives came through rapid testing while 93 came from 770 samples taken through contact tracing, and 44 cases from 1,311 samples taken through private initiative.

Fifteen cases came from 300 samples processed by hospital labs, and 79 samples taken through GP referrals yielded no positives.

In addition, 542 samples were taken at airports with just one positive.

Forty-one cases were detected in Nicosia, 98 in Limassol, 14 in Larnaca, 12 in Paphos and six in Famagusta.
