Kyprianou calls for more support for Pyla

Leader of main opposition Akel Andros Kyprianou visited the mixed village of Pyla on Friday and called for more government support.

Kyprianou called for further government emphasis and support for the village as it faces its own set of unique problems.

“Pyla is of particular interest because it is a community where Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots live together and it requires the state to provide them its full support,” Kyprianou said.

The Akel leader met community leader Simos Mytides.

For his part, Mytides thanked Kyprianou for his personal interest and that of Akel: “[Pyla] is a very sensitive area, a very sensitive community with particular issues.”

Previous complaints by Mytides appear to have been picked up by Kyprianou, as reference was made to the village’s coastal road, which the community leader said the government is not adequately helping with.
