Work stoppage at state hospitals

ΝΟΣΟΚΟΜΕΙΟ ΛΕΜΕΣΟΥ – ΣΤΑΣΗ ΕΡΓΑΣΙΑΣ

Hourly paid staff at state hospitals went on a two-hour work stoppage on Wednesday citing unequal treatment.

Staff interrupted their work between 11.30am and 1.30pm and stood outside their working places.

Sek, Deok and Peo trade union representatives said that the staff were forced to resort to this measure because, despite their contribution, their employer, the state health services organisation Okypy, does not respect their employment terms. The reps spoke of intimidation tactics, understaffing and violation of the hourly paid staff’s employment terms.

The unions said that despite their repeated efforts, Okypy continues to challenge its obligations as employer.
