Where to vote website up and running

The ‘Where Do I Vote’ service was activated on Saturday to help people find out which polling station they can cast their vote at the May 30 parliamentary elections.

People can visit https://wtv.elections.moi.gov.cy/ and enter their ID number and birth date and will be informed about which polling station to use.

They can also call 77772212 to find out the information. The phone service will be available between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays. The service will be available also during election day.

Voters may also learn where to vote by sending an SMS to 1199. Their message must have the following format: wtv space ID number space date of birth (xx/xx/xxxx).

In the meantime, ombudswoman Maria Stylianou Lottides has called for the need to ensure that everyone is able to vote, including those with disabilities.

Lottides said that the state is obliged to take the necessary measures to remove all obstacles which hinder the equal participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life, including political life. She said that this concerns access to the polling stations but also access to information.

The ombudswoman said that people with disabilities “are discriminated against in various aspects of their political and social life” and that failure to act in this direction would result in discrimination against them.
