Coronavirus: No deaths, 58 new cases (updated)

The health ministry announced 58 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, with a positivity rate of 0.13 per cent, while no new Covid-19 deaths were reported.

There are currently 66 Covid-19 patients in hospital, 27 of whom are in serious condition.

A total of 43,028 tests were carried out on Tuesday, of which 37,065 were rapid tests.

The remaining 5,963 PCR tests identified the following: five positives from 92 contact tracing tests, four from 2,324 airport and 19 from 2,942 private tests.

A further three positives were identified from 520 rapid tests which were taken privately, while the government’s rapid test screening programme (36,545 tests) found 27 positives.

Paphos had the lowest positivity rate with just 0.03 per cent (one positive from 3,776 tests) followed by Famagusta’s 0.05 per cent (one positive from 2,138 tests).

Next was Nicosia’s 0.06 per cent (seven positives from 12,081 tests), followed by Larnaca’s 0.10 per cent (three positives from 3,106 tests) and, finally, Limassol’s 0.13 per cent (ten positives from 7,852 tests).

No positives were identified at the care homes and of the 6,490 tests taken at high schools just one returned positive.
