Cultural Crossroads in Limassol

poster

For one week, Limassol will be filled with the sounds of classical music performed by young artists from all over the world with the Cultural Crossroads Festival taking place between July 3 and 10, with the support of the Austrian Embassy. Masterclasses for violin, viola, cello and piano with internationally renowned pedagogues and several concerts are scheduled to take place.

The festival aims to bring young, enthusiastic and eager to learn musicians together by uniting them with dedicated and passionate highly respected educators, all with an impressive international career. This year’s professors include renowned Austrian cellist Erich Oskar Hütter, American violist Paul Cortese, German Pianist Christoph Declara and the director of Cultural Crossroads, violinist Wolfgang Schröder.

Within the festival’s programme, two informal concerts will take place by the students and teachers of the Academy on July 5 and 7 at the Papadakeion Municipal Music School. The official opening concert of Cultural Crossroads however will happen on July 3 at Pattihion Theatre with violinist and director of the festival Wolfgang Schröder, viola player Paul Cortese, cellist Erich Oskar Hütter and pianist Christoph Declara. Saturday’s concert will include pieces by Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss and Johannes Brahms.

The festival’s closing concert on July 10 at Rialto Theatre will feature works by Piazzola and Gardel, performed by the students and teachers presenting the final results of the week.
