After 30 years of participation, Cyprus won two bronze medals for the first time at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).

The winners were Charalambos Georgiou who is an army conscript in Limassol and Dimitris Chrysostomou who attends the American Academy in Larnaca.

The olympiad took place online this year, between June 19 and 25.

The Cyprus Association of Informatics congratulated students Christos Falas from Nicosia-based English school and Theofanis Orfanou from Pascal in Limassol who also participated the competition as well as all the members and teachers who helped in the preparation.

The association also wished luck to those participating in the European Youth Informatics Olympiad (EJOI) which will also be held online on August 24 to 28, 2021.

The teams representing Cyprus in the international competitions result from the Pancyprian Informatics Olympiad organised annually by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with the education ministry with the support of private organisations and contribution of volunteers who undertake the preparation of the teams.
