A building was evacuated in Limassol on Friday afternoon after a warning message was sent to the media about a bomb explosion at the premises, police said.

Police were rushed to a building on Spyros Kyprianou avenue in Kato Polemidia after receiving information that a bomb had been planted on the second floor.

The message, which was sent to various media channels a few minutes after 2pm, said the bomb was expected to explode at 3pm.

It argued the company housed in the building “is involved in money laundering from international criminal groups and actively distributes drugs and child pornography on the internet. Some elected officials are covering them”.

It added that “police and government have been warned”, and that they sent a warning “but we were not heard”, and that “this time we are going to announce it loudly”.

The building was evacuated as a precaution before the set time. However, no explosion had occurred by 3.30pm, according to police.

Officers who completed examinations at the scene said they did not find anything suspicious.
