Two jailed for drugs

Larnaca criminal court on Wednesday jailed a 48-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man to ten and five years in jail for illegal drug possession and possession with the intend to deal.

According to the police, the woman was arrested at the airport on May 23, upon her arrival on Cyprus. She was caught with 26 plastic bags containing 15 kilos and 333 grammes of cannabis in her luggage.

Officers also confiscated €350 found in her possession.

The second person was arrested on May 31 when three kilos and 136 grammes of cannabis were found in his vehicle during a traffic check at the Limassol to Nicosia motorway near Chirokitia.

Police said they also found two cannabis plants during a search in his house that followed.
