Police were seeking a 41-year-old man on Thursday after a cheque that had been stolen from a home in Nicosia was used to pay for two televisions sets in Paphos.

According to the Police, on Wednesday, the 27-year-old employee of an electronics store on Mesogis Avenue in Paphos, reported that on July 20, a man had called her, saying he was interested in buying two TV sets for his betting shop.

After agreeing to buy two TVs for the price of €720, the man told the employee that a friend of his would pass by to pick them up.

The person who went to the store picked up the sets and paid by cheque. After it was deposited to the bank, it was determined that the cheque had been flagged as stolen during a burglary in Nicosia.

Investigators determined the identity of the alleged perpetrator, and an arrest warrant was issued for a 41-year-old man.
