Over 23 kilos of cannabis was found on Saturday in the luggage of a man aged 25 who flew into Paphos airport from Greece, police said.

A search of the luggage uncovered 40 bags with the drugs inside. The man was arrested and appeared in court on Sunday where he was remanded for eight days.

According to police on Sunday, the suspect told them the drugs were given to him by people he did not know in Thessaloniki to bring them to Cyprus for a fee. He also said he did not know who they were to be delivered to.
