Coronavirus: 33 individuals and seven businesses fined

Seven businesses and 33 individuals were booked in the past 24 hours for violating coronavirus protocols, police said on Saturday.

Violations for businesses included failure to check clients and staff for a SafePass or display the necessary coronavirus signage, while for members of the public they concerned not wearing a mask.

The fines came after 4,041 nationwide police checks for violations of coronavirus measures were carried out between 6am on Friday and 6am on Saturday.

Most checks, 1,361, were conducted in Nicosia, where officers booked six people and two businesses, followed by Famagusta, where 10 people and one business were booked after 985 checks.

In Larnaca, officers booked one business after 666 checks, while Paphos officers booked four people and a business.

The least checks, 306, were carried out in Limassol, where 13 people and two businesses were booked.

No violations were reported by Morphou officers, traffic and marine police.
